Too much plot and a disappointing ending that I am honor-bound not to reveal, as per the filmmakers' wishes get in the way of a potentially ruthless ticking-clock thriller, but that thriller is still hiding somewhere in there regardless.
This may be because I've been reading a lot of them lately, but I think this would have been better as a Jack Davis-illustrated Tales From the Crypt story. At the very least, it would have had a better ending - OK, that's all I'm gonna say about it, promise. For real. This was in 19fucking Is it any good though? Well, Castle pretty much pulls it off as when the film is working it plays more like an episode of Twilight Zone then some of Castle's later much campier films. William Prince is a hated physician in town whose daughter is kidnapped and put into a casket with about 5 hours of air.
A story ripe with holes, but is still fun.
Red herrings abound and some of them are downright lame. A story dump at the end is supposed to clear things up but this is where the movie falters for me as things get a tad to nonchalant. Review by DFvideodiary. If you can keep track of who's who - you may like this oddball shocker from William Castle all about an empty coffin, a missing girl, a suspected murder and a town of creeps. Worth a spin for Jim Backus as a bad cop. Its a Castle gimmick film, but not a bad one. Feels like a longer episode of a twilight zone episode, and could have been cut down, but it still is a creepy film with a nice twist.
Yup, sounds pretty macabre to me, but as blood-chilling as the tagline and the warning upfront suggest, no, it is not. The horror here comes from the suggestion of a young girl being buried alive and characters trying to find her on a smoky graveyard.

Accompanied by thunder and lighting of course. The rest is what pushes the movie forward; haphazardly plotted suspense. Pretty amazing how much story Castle is able to cram into only 73 minutes. No edge of your seat-stuff, but it's enough to keep it going for most of the time. I promised the narrator not to reveal the ending, so instead I'm just going to say that the animation during the end credits is pretty neato. Director William Castle.
